If you’re shopping at traditional bridal boutiques, wedding dresses can be INSANELY expensive. But what are you even paying for? That glass of champagne? The memorable experience of being clipped into a gown? It’s clear that the wedding dress industry exploits tradition. Bridal boutiques notoriously mark-up dresses that cost mere hundreds to make. By working with our brides one-on-one, Anomalie cuts out the middle man, and the absurd mark-ups, allowing our custom designs to be priced between $1,000 and $2,000.

We breakdown what makes traditional wedding dress SO expensive, and why as an Anomalie bride, you won’t pay an absurd mark-up for the (custom!) wedding dress of your dreams.

The Brick and Mortar Model

The brick and mortar model has its (major) downfalls. There are a series of mark-ups associated with a traditional retail model. Simply put: a brand creates a dress and marks it up for wholesale to a boutique. The boutique then marks up the dress AGAIN for sale to a bride: Brand ($) wholesales to Boutique ($$) sells to Bride ($$$- $$$$).

At Anomalie:  Our direct-to-consumer model allows us to eliminate the mark-ups associated with brands and boutiques. By partnering directly with brides to design their dream dress, the brand mark up is eliminated.  By working directly with our workshop partners to create each custom dress, the boutique mark up is eliminated. Anomalie to Bride ($).

Designer Name

When shopping for your wedding dress at a boutique, you’ll end up paying a hefty price for the brand’s creative design or collection.

At Anomalie: You’ll work with a personal stylist to bring the dress of your dreams to life.  No designer mark-ups here. By simply sharing a few photos of inspiration, we turn your inspiration into a reality.

Fabrics & Materials

High-quality silk, along with intricate lace and elements of beading contribute significantly to the cost of a wedding dress.

At Anomalie: We sourced the same premium fabrics and materials as world’s top bridal designers such as Monique Lhuillier and Pronovias. The only difference: our price tag.custom wedding dress handbeading

Another large cost driver is the labor required to create each dress.

At Anomalie: We don’t cut corners here. Our partners abroad are part of the Anomalie team. Every Anomalie gown is handmade by our skilled designers who carefully create the pattern of your dress and stitch the fabric together. They hand place and sew each piece of lace, design every beading pattern, and bring your entire look together with custom accessories such as handmade veils, overskirts, jackets and beyond.

Trying on wedding dresses is an experience. Boutiques keep the champagne flowing as you try on multiple styles. The cost of including little touches like this for every bride that walks through the door adds up, and someone has to pay for it.

At Anomalie: You don’t need to sacrifice the “Say Yes to the Dress” moment. From reviewing the sketch, selecting fabrics, and taking your measurements, there’s plenty of opportunities to get your entire bridal party involved without having to pay for it. And let’s not forget the Big Reveal!  Treat yourself to an “Unboxing Party” once you receive your one-of-a-kind wedding dress.

At Anomalie we’ve cut out all of the additional costs to deliver high quality dresses handmade by skilled partners for a fraction of the traditional boutique price. Feeling blown away?
