Let’s be real: the aisle you’ll be gliding down on your big day might as well have a red carpet unrolled onto it. You’re the star, you’re shining, you’re walking up to your spouse-to-be and you’re as blissful as ever. So why not get some #RedCarpetInspo from other women who are also glowing in happiness—or in a 128-carat fancy yellow Tiffany diamond? (We’re looking at you, Lady Gaga.)
Read on to see the Oscars 2019 dress trends that can carry over from the red carpet to the wedding aisle!
Capes
This popular wedding dress trend was all over the red carpet. Whether you’re going sleek or frilly, a gorgeous cape adds character to your whole look.
There is no bolder way to top off a minimalist ensemble, than with a cape. Melissa McCarthy’s achromatic, long-sleeved jumpsuit by Brandon Maxwell featured a deep split neck. She added a dash of bold with (you guessed it) a white cape.
True to her regal elegance, Glenn Close went with a 42-pound long-sleeved dress by Carolina Herrera. This golden masterpiece wraps around the bodice and shimmers with the help of over 3 million beads.
We’re gushing over Maya Rudolph’s take on the cape, which—as opposed to the styles above—falls on the romantic side of the fashion spectrum. With the pink scheme, frilly details, floral print, and tie-bow neck, she’s living proof that sometimes more is more.
Tulle sans Lace
But sometimes, less is also more (yes, fashion is like that), like in the case of these unique tulle dresses worn on the red carpet. This is a popular wedding dress fabric mostly seen with lace appliqué, but this time, stars wore it free of lacey embellishments.
Constance Wu, nominated for Crazy Rich Asians, fluttered in this mellow-yellow, crinkled tulle dress by Versace. The piece was topped off with a beaded trim and an asymmetrical, tiered, off-the-shoulder flounce reminiscent of a butterfly or a fairy (either way, it’s unquestionably cute).
Sit tight, because there are layers to this. Country artist Kacey Musgraves gave us major royal vibes in this pink number by Giambattista Valli. The tiered skirt could only be matched by the ruff-like tulle gathered at the shoulders and around the neckline for an elevated, queenly finish.
Helen Mirren twirled in pink haute couture goodness by Schiaparelli. The long-sleeved, A-line gown featured a deep V-neck and a cross-over bodice that cinched her waist.
Sparkle
Whatever you decide to wear on your big day, we’re sure you’ll look positively dazzling. But if you add a little sparkle here and there—or, better yet, on your wedding dress—you’ll really (like, really) give off some serious glow.
Octavia Spencer exuded timeless romance with off-the-shoulder sleeves in this Christian Siriano ballgown, which was covered in glam, starry-night-esque sparkles. You can get a similar look with our wide range of glitter tulles, available in colors from our bridal palette of white/silver, champagne and blush.

We’re getting all the fairy tale feels with this mint Rodarte tulle gown. Yalitzia Aparicio, nominated for Roma, gleamed in the sparkly piece, featuring silver polka dots and a one-shoulder design. You can accomplish a similar look with sequin tulle, swiss dot, or glitter tulle.
