From a below-zero Christmastime engagement to a picture-perfect beach wedding, this couple’s relaxed, barefoot-in-the-sand wedding has us dreaming of a destination wedding! Meet Paige, an Anomalie bride who was married this spring in Costa Rica. Let’s get the story behind her lace illusion Anomalie dress and intimate week-long wedding celebration.
Tell us about your wedding!
We got married in Costa Rica on the beach. After being so cold for our proposal (it was below zero degrees out when he proposed) we wanted to go somewhere warm! We had always wanted a destination wedding because we love to adventure together. We love being outdoors, and we wanted to get married at sunset and have a laid back beach vibe so Costa Rica tied that all together perfectly.
It was like an intimate week long beach and pool party with our own entourage. Everyone that came was there for almost a week since it was a destination. Our wedding itself was this spectacular event with an absolutely beautiful beach ambiance and all the love of our close-knit group surrounding us. We wanted to go with the sunset beach vibe, very relaxed and carefree. We are pretty low key people so we wanted our wedding to feel that way too.
What made you decide to design your own wedding dress? What was your favorite part about working with Anomalie?
I love making things my own and being an individual, so the idea of having a gown made the way I had in my mind sounded like a great idea.
So, I called Anomalie and felt so well listened to on my first call. The dresses that I liked at the boutiques were ridiculously priced in my mind, as well. Having a dress made specifically for me and less expensive seemed even better.
I loved designing my dress! I think receiving the fabric and getting to feel it and hold it next to my skin was probably my favorite. I’m very tactile so having the fabric really made things seem real to me.
How did your theme or destination play into your wedding dress design?
Being on the beach in a tropical climate, I really wanted a beautiful dress that was comfortable and not too hot. I also wanted some glamour with lace and beading and a long pretty train and veil to flow over the sand when I walked down the aisle.
I loved the illusion look and it was a double benefit being airy and cooler in the heat and humidity. I knew I really wanted a long train but I didn’t want to bustle it. Having a train wristlet was perfect and so much fun to dance with too!
Tell us about your unboxing experience. What was it like finally receiving your Anomalie dress?
I loved getting my dress. I had planned out time with a couple fellow travelling healthcare workers to open it up and try it on. The hardest part was waiting to show my husband how awesome it looked!!
What were your favorite or most memorable moments of the day?
I really am torn between when he read his vows to me (we wrote our own) and our first dance together. They were both so perfect and beautiful, I just felt such peaceful bliss! He says his favorite was all the anticipation of the day and then finally seeing me for the first time for photos and seeing me walk down the aisle. We both agree it was the perfect day!
Stylist Tip: Just because you have a destination wedding doesn’t mean you have to get married in a casual dress! We can create a gorgeous, custom wedding gown with lighter fabrics so you don’t have to sacrifice fashion for comfort!
